Guidelines
Reviews, questions and answers help teachers decide where to apply. These rules keep them honest, fair and safe for the people who write them.
Who can write a review
- Teachers, leaders and support staff aged 18 or over who work at the school now or have worked there in the last 10 years.
- One review per school per person. If things change, use your removal code to take down your old review, then write a new one.
- Never someone writing for a friend, a rival school, or the school itself.
What makes a useful review
- Your own experience: what you saw, what happened to you, and when.
- Specifics a future teacher can act on: workload, how leadership communicates, whether the package was paid as promised, housing, class sizes.
- Balance. Say what's good as well as what isn't; most schools are a mix.
What we don't publish
- Names, initials, job titles or descriptions that identify a colleague, leader, parent or student.
- Accusations of crimes or serious misconduct. These belong with the authorities or a lawyer, not a review site.
- Rumours or things you only heard about second-hand.
- Insults, hate, threats or swearing aimed at people.
- Contact details, links, or confidential documents such as contracts.
- Reviews written in exchange for money or favours, or to settle a score.
How moderation works
- Every review is read by a member of our team before it's published. Nothing appears automatically.
- We publish it as written or decline it. We don't rewrite reviews.
- We aim to decide within 5 working days.
- Published reviews show only your role and the year you left, e.g. "Former teacher, left 2024". Never your name.
- Average ratings appear once a school has 3 or more approved reviews.
Questions and answers
- The same rules apply: no names, nothing that identifies a person, no accusations of crimes, no contact details.
- Ask about working at the school: pay, housing, workload, leadership, the city. Not about individual people.
- When you answer, say honestly whether you've worked there. Answers show "Says they worked here" only when you tell us you have.
- Every question and answer is read by a person before it appears.
No rewards for reviews
- We never pay, reward or offer anything in exchange for a review, question or answer, and nothing depends on whether it's positive or negative.
- Free Pro is a thank-you for sharing your package figures only. It's the same whether or not you write a review.
- Reviews written for a school, a recruiter or a competitor, or in exchange for anything, are fake reviews. They're banned here and illegal in the UK.
Protect yourself
- In some countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, China and Thailand, criticising an employer online can be a crime, even when it's true. We never publish your name, but we can't protect you from those laws.
- Leave out details only you could know: a unique job title, a specific incident, exact dates.
- Check your contract for confidentiality clauses, and don't share anything it covers.
- Don't post from a school computer, school email or school Wi-Fi. If you're unsure, wait until you've left the country.
Schools and corrections
- Schools can't pay to remove reviews or change ratings, and we never sell reviews or reviewer details.
- A school can point out a factual error or a review that breaks these guidelines; we check it against the same rules.
- Anyone can report a post using the Report link under it. We aim to deal with urgent reports within 48 hours.
- If you wrote something and want it removed, use the Report link on it, choose "I wrote it and want it removed" and enter the removal code you were shown after posting. It comes down straight away.
